Well done to everyone involved with the success of 2008/2009. It has been a fantastic season with some brilliant development on and off the pitch.

On the pitch, we recorded our highest ever league finish and continued our proud tradition of excellent football. Steven Bamks has been fantstoc as Vice Captain and really become an important part of the team. The additions of players and the development of players such as Phil, Jack B and Marian.

Off the pitch, the introduction of Assistant Manager Rob Sadler has been next to prefect, better than anyone could have hoped. And of course the biggest news is the aquisition of CHT and the start of the Punch Reserve team...Welcome to Rachel and all the guys.

We are very sad to have to say goodbye to the follwoing players, who go with our best wishes

Iain

Alex

Damon

Tango (retired)

Well done to everyone and have a great summer.

Matthew Widdowson

Chairman

The 4-1-4-1 was mocked for being very negative, and liked to Chelsea, while the 4-5-1 was called defensive it did point out the 3 CM's had one back and one supporting the front man.

I did have a look through some of the other formations, don't think much to the diagrams though.

Bob

We will never play 4-2-3-1 formation while I am in charge. We can barely cope and get to grips with 4-4-2 so playing a formation like that would be suicide. We will play 4-1-4-1 until the team can prove that they can pass and use structured wing attacks and more impiortantly prove that we can defend from the front line and the midfield can play without leaving a hole the size of essex between them and the defence.

i agree 4 -2-3-1 is a good option, i think it would help to plug the masive hole we seem to create, if you look at the formation on paper it natrually creates triangles to play in instead of having flat lines across the pitch with the option for more passing/runs.

the key to this however is to hold the formation,i hope we can think more on the pitch to try and hold shape better.

hopefully jordan will be playing more in the games to come,i think he plays better at the back than me and maybe i could sit as one of the 2 infront of the back 4 to hopefully stop our gap problem! do you think this would help?

cheers

scotty.

We played our first few games in a 5-4-1 formation, this resulted in the spare central defender coming forward to plug the gap between defence and midfield rather than holding back.

The 4-1-4-1 has been successful, transforming into a 4-3-3 when attacking.

All the fixtures we have played are in the drop down menus under Fixtures and Training. We have always conceeded goals, but most importantly we have never lacked firepower upfront. Sometimes we struggle to "make it happen."

On Sunday I agree it started well but when we hadn't scored after 30 minutes we lost our way, I cannot think of much we tried to do after that point. During the second half we tried to go up the middle most of the time, and we only made progress the few times we did find ourselves out wide.

We have to remember that if the defence drop too deep we open the gap with midfield. How far back do we want the middle field? We could sit defence at the penelty area and midfield our side of the centre circle. I think that will help cut out direct football.

However what about 4-2-3-1, two holding midfielders and one left to surge forward? We did well at recycling the ball on Sunday and two players behind the line, may help, however pushing up too far reduces that gap for the wingers and strikers to get in behind their defence.

It is a shame you (Scott) missed the one all draw at Brayfield as we held our shape well.

Attendance & Attitude

Attendance at the pub and training, along with general attitude and performance tend to dictate the team on Sundays, failing to meet the financial criteria automatically exclude you from the Sunday team.

No Smoking or drinking alcohol between arrival and departure of games or training, you may find yourself dropped if you do.

A football card (Prize £10) will be circulated at the pub after each competitive match, 50p per go.

Finance

All The Punch FC players are subject to a £15 fee to sign on at the start of the season, this must be paid before the first league game. Players joining later in the season or leaving for university have a fee subject to negotiation.

Players are charged £5 subs if they attend Sunday fixtures, players attending training and not Sunday fixtures (particularly at chargeable facilities such as Cripps) will be charged £3 per training session or banned if they continue to abuse this policy. (This replaces the holiday policy from the 07/08 season.)

Any player who owes £15 or more will not play on Sunday; the player will be shortlisted to referee the next home game to clear their debt. Check out the ways to save money below:

•	Stand in referee (full match) - Worth THREE weeks credit

• Kit Wash - Worth ONE weeks credit

All fines for yellow cards (£8) or red cards (£ TBC) are automatically passed to the player unless the manager has given you specific instructions before the match.

Kit

The Punch FC have TWO new kits for the 08/09 season, therefore:

Squad shirts, shorts and socks must be worn to matches, if you don’t use them you will not play. No kit is to be taken home by players, all items should be placed “pulled through”, not screwed up in the wash bag. What more can you want? Kit provided washed and ready every week! Don’t abuse it.

Regards,

The Management

Hello Scott,

Just a point that I have not been charging for any weeks where players have not been involved in the Sunday match this season, however I'm not allocating holiday time as we did last year. This should be better for players as match day attendance dictates subs, however when we move to "paid for" training facilities such as Cripps we will watch out for people looking for free training.

My records show that you have paid £30 so far.

£15 signing on fee and £15 in subs, this will cover 3 matches.

Possible matches played so far are:

•	Locomotiv Moulton

•	Heatherfield Rangers

•	Abington Rangers *

•	Wheatsheaf

•	Borough United * (broken hand)

•	Earls Barton

•	Westone Wanderers * (league game)

•	Westone Club 81

•	Heathfield Rangers Reserves

•	Low Price Memory FC (league game)

The games marked with a * are games where I have you marked as N/A for payment for the week.

7 games played, minus 3 paid for, leaves 4 remaining, £20 outstanding.

I’m happy to be open and honest about subs etc. Any questions let me know.

Bob

after several weeks of friendlies with formation changes and player position changes which don't get me wrong is a good thing to find out our weaknesses and our strengths, is it just me or have we not or very rarely stuck to formation and carried out a plan?

from my view point on the pitch i see us starting well every week for the first 15-20 min then we are pulled all over the place leaving the centre circle of the pitch empty which then pulls the back 4 in to try and fill the gap this in turn leaves us open to long ball tactics over the top.

does anyone else have an opinion on this? is anyone else seeing this or something different?

the most frustrating thing for me when playing as captain was telling people where they need to be and in return getting back chat and or no reaction to my advice.

i don't know if it's just me looking into things to much or if we have a general problem with our team attitude!

your comments?!
